The Technical Theatre Classes have the hardest part of the sesmter behind them now that we have fully cleaned up after These Shining Lives!
Currently they are working on their "prop project" for a large portion of their final exam grade. A combination of a word working project, props building with holiday creativity sprinkled on top they are crafting a present or presents out of wood for a loved one.. This will be half of their final exam. There will also be a short multiple choice exam on the basic theatre terms they learned this semester. Here is a quizlet link to all the possible vocabulary they can study with flashcards online... quizlet.com/_52ja41 We will be reviewing in class as well. Happy Holidays! -Mrs. Day

We are working on our big fall show THESE SHINING LIVES.
They were allowed to pick a technical area of interest to work on the one act production for a majority of this semester. (EXAMPLES: COSTUMES, MAKEUP/HAIR, SCENIC DESIGN, LIGHTS/SOUND or PROPS). Students have been working within those groups to collect historical data/information for their design research and collaboration. They will put their designs/ideas on paper this week. Moving forward they will be working with a set budget to help make their ideas come to life while being economically conservative. They will experiment, plan, re-experiment, build, install and execute all of solidified plans. Encourage your student to use their imagination, and to WRITE THINGS DOWN or SKETCH IT OUT. You can also watch a movie/tv show with them that takes place in the 20's and 30's to cultivate inspiration and bring the topic home. You may be able to teach them something/come up with an idea they can bring to class! This week the students will:
- Monday we started analyzing a script through the eyes of a scenic designer - Tuesday we did a full backstage, front of house and onstage tour of the fine and performing arts center here at Wheeler. - Tuesday/Wednesday they are all learning/practicing how to use a drill! (yes you can put them to work at home ;) - Wednesday/Thursday we are learning/practicing how to use a table saw and how to properly measure wood for cutting. - Friday we are doing more exploration of the Scenic Designer profession as well as, beginning our research for THESE SHINING LIVES (our one act play this semester that we are designing/building for.
