Theatre Fundamentals is working on their final performance pieces.
They wrote, directed and are staring in their own short plays! I am so proud of them. This will be half of their final exam. There will also be a multiple choice exam on the basic theatre terms they learned this semester. Here is a quizlet link to all the possible vocabulary they can study with flashcards online... https://quizlet.com/_52j98e We will be reviewing in class as well. Happy Holidays! -Mrs. Day

This week we are working on pantomime.
The students are in randomly selected groups 5-6 and have been tasked with telling a story without speaking. They are working together within their groups to come up with a story/blocking/choreography and background music. They have rehearsed together in class and will be performing on Friday the 24th for a project/presentation grade. A note on attendance for Friday: PLEASE do whatever you can to make sure your student (or you) are there on Friday so your group is not scrambling to figure out how to cover your/your student's part. In class we are currently focusing on a monologue project.
Students have been asked to write a monologue about a moment that changed them forever, it could be a positive experience or a negative experience. They will never write their name on their paper and once the students complete writing the monologue I will take them up and pass them back out to other students to memorize and perform them all for a grade. It is an exciting project that let's all of us get to know one another on a deeper level as well as giving a free write opportunity, creating theatre through story telling as well as, teaching the importance of stories, why we tell them and how important it is to honor the history/perspective of others. Students will finish writing them/turn them in on 8.15.18 I will pass out their assigned monologue and students will begin memorization (the only homework they should ever have) 8.15.18 Students will begin presenting their memorized anonymous monologue from their classmate on Tuesday 8.21.18 While they work on that 8.16 and 8.17 we will work on them during class (for a portion of the class) So excited to have you in my class!
